Dave’s journey into public safety began with his passion for swimming, which led to his role as a lifeguard along California’s iconic beaches. Over 34 years, between his time as an L.A. County Lifeguard and a 31-year career as a fireman-paramedic with the Manhattan Beach Fire Department. His transition into firefighting stemmed from a desire to expand his service and impact. Working for Manhattan Beach Fire Department, Dave developed leadership skills, rose to the rank of captain, and played a key role in creating water rescue training programs for firefighters.

 

Throughout his career, Dave faced the challenges that come with public safety, including the constant balancing act between professional dedication and personal responsibilities. He candidly discusses how his career impacted his family life and the lessons he’s learned about prioritizing mental health and personal relationships.
