Kathryn’s military journey began when she joined the Marine Corps aiming to become a member of the drum and bugle corps. However, life had other plans, and she found herself as a drill instructor, making significant contributions to shaping the future of new recruits. During her time in the Marines, Kathryn was part of a pioneering group of female drill instructors who were the first to receive the prestigious campaign covers. This was a pivotal moment for gender equality in the military, as it signaled a step towards broader acceptance and recognition of female service members.
